Improve WiFi range by placing antennas correctly in ESP32, routers and embedded devices.
Practical checklist
- Keep antennas away from ground planes unless the antenna design requires one.
- Avoid placing antennas near USB cables, metal cases and large batteries.
- Maintain clearance around PCB antennas.
- Test both orientation and enclosure position.
Installation notes
RF range depends on antenna position, enclosure material, cable loss, ground plane, mounting height and the final installation environment.
Testing advice
Measure RSSI, SNR, packet loss or throughput in the final product position. Bench tests often look better than real installations.
